The first project of my masters degree had my class divided into two groups. Each group would deliver a set of three videos promoting the different aspects of Farnham's space2grow community garden, which would act as promotional videos for their social media presence to draw in potential new visitors.
My team was made up of three students, so we decided that we would choose a video from each of us to put forward to the client. However, what it presented on this page is exclusively my work, including the videos that were not chosen to be presented to the client.
Jon King
It's not about the gardening. It's about people.
The video of mine which was chosen to put forward to our client was the story of Jon King.
Jon is a recovering alcoholic with a tragic history, and the space2grow community has helped him find a new life and make up for what he missed out on earlier in life.
I wanted to tell his story in an inviting and uplifting way as it's quite an inspiring story, the man who lost everything but found a new life through this community, and I felt the video should reach out to people in a similar situation and try to bring them into the community as it may also grant them the help that they need.
In addition to this version of the video, three variations were created: One other in 16:9 but without subtitles, and two for Instagram in 1:1 and trimmed to 60 seconds. One with subtitles and one without.
Men in Sheds

Men in Sheds is an organisation dedicated to getting people of retirement age out of the house and active with their hands; building and woodworking.

Cooking Club
We find that the cooking really helps.
The Cooking Club is a support and wellness group more targeted at children - hoping to get them active in the kitchen and learning useful cooking skills.
